Welcome to The Village Federation's website - a great place to find out more about our wonderful schools.
It is an absolute privilege and pleasure to be the Executive Headteacher of The Village Federation and to lead our four wonderful schools.
The Village Federation is an amazing partnership of Brassington Primary School, Carsington & Hopton Church of England Primary School, The Fitzherbert Church of England Primary School and Kirk Ireton Church of England Primary School. A lot of our work is done collaboratively and to help share information with parents and the wider community, this website should help everyone to understand more about the way the Federation runs and to see some of the things (such as policies) that are common to all of the schools.
A federation is defined as two or more schools that have a single governing body. The Village Federation initially came into being on the 1st September 2015 but had been built on strong foundations following a leadership collaboration between Carsington & Hopton C of E Primary School and Kirk Ireton C of E Primary School since November 2012. In September 2018, a new collaboration was formed with The FitzHerbert C of E Primary School and as of September 2019 all three schools federated. In September 2021, The Village Federation began a collaboration with Brassington Primary School which also culminated in a full federation from September 2022.
As each school joined the federation, they were interested in a new model of leadership that was better suited to the current landscape of education and that best prepared the schools for the future, both financially and within a stable staffing structure. At the core of each school's decision was to secure the long-term future whilst preserving the unique and individual characters of each establishment. This is something we have ensured we keep at the very heart of all we do, and can be seen in our Federation Vision, along with everything else that we believe in.
